Well, do you want a strong core? Do you want to have better control and stability in things like squats and deadlifts? If yes, then doing planks can very well prove beneficial.
Can you hold a plank for 60 seconds?
If you said no, I would keep working on holding that plank longer.
If you said yes, Jeff Cavaliere says it's time to move on to more challenging planks. This guy is definitely someone you want to listen to if you want to take your core training far.
